Description

The Fremont Older Preserve is a scenic, hilly preserve filled with pawesome trails to explore with your pup. In total, Fremont Older Preserve has about 14 miles of trails to hike on, and pups are welcome to join you in the preserve on-leash.

One of the most popular trails in the preserve is the Seven Springs Loop Trail. This 2.6-mile trail begins near the preserve’s main parking lot, where restrooms are available. As you hike along the trail, you’ll ascend about 561 feet. You’ll also pass through a beautiful forest, and you’ll go through fields filled with wildflowers. Plus, you’ll go by scenic vistas where you’ll great views of Cupertino and the Santa Cruz Mountains.

If you’d like to go on a longer trek with your pup, try the 4.4-mile Parker Ranch Trail. This out-and-back trail has an elevation gain of 885 feet, and it takes you up hillsides where you’ll amazing views of the vineyards near the preserve. One portion of the trail also goes behind the Saratoga Country Club. If you need a break during your hike, there are plenty of benches along this trail where you and your pup can relax and enjoy the views.

Fremont Older Preserve also has numerous short and scenic trails you can explore with your pup. If you want to hike up to beautiful Rainbow Knoll, try the 0.2-mile Rainbow Knoll Trail. Or, if you want to go on a stroll by a peaceful creek, hop on the 0.2-mile Creekside Trail. This trail also takes you by the historic Freemont Older Preserve House. No matter which trail you choose, you and your pup are sure to have fun hiking here!

Fremont Older Preserve is a furtastic natural area that features trails you and your dog will both love. Bring some doggy bags so you can clean up after your pup, and have a great time hiking in this preserve!

Cautions & Considerations

Many of Fremont Older Preserve’s trails have limited shade, and they get very hot in the middle of the day. Try to hike early in the day if you can, and be sure to give your pup plenty of water. Also, be aware that there’s poison oak throughout the preserve. Be on the lookout for this plant as you’re trekking.
