Do you like the idea of getting out into nature with your furever pup and doing a little bit of camping and hiking? Then head to Green Valley Lake, California, and visit the Green Valley Campground, located in the San Bernardino Mountains, where hiking is top-notch, and you can extend your stay with an overnighter!
There are two hiking trails that head out of the campground. Pick up the trailhead for the Little Green Valley Trail, also known as 2N19, and the Snow Slide Trail, also known as 2N13, at the campground’s parking lot. You will be on your way shortly with your furry friend to explore the great outdoors.
Take the Little Green Valley Trail if you want to hike south from the campground which meanders through meadows and pine forests. This out-and-back trail will take you about 5 miles and is rated as difficult. About the halway point, where this trail turns west, it will connect to the 2W10 trail which heads directly south, ending at Hwy 18.
Or take the Snow Slide Trail in the other direction, which leads you north and then east. It is 10 miles long and is rated as moderately difficult because of a small number of steeper sections. This is also used as a cross-country trail during the winter months. You will be treated to meadows and forests, and if you hike the entire length, you will find yourself at Big Bear Lake.
If you decide to stay, the campground offers pup-friendly accommodations. There are 36 sites you can rent, with some being close to Lake Arrowhead. Beautiful grounds, surrounded by a scenic lake, make for quite a memorable visit. Restrooms and drinking water are located on site.
Take your pawtastic pup for an extravagant hike and maybe even a mini vacation at the Green Valley Campground in sunny California!
