The Honeysuckle Trail is a short and sweet hike that will invigorate your canine's senses. Located within the magnificent Hot Springs National Park, just about an hour outside of Little Rock, Arkansas, the Honeysuckle Trail is one of many hikes to do with your pup. This trail is not among the most pawpular of trails within the park, however, it does offer a quieter atmosphere than some of its competing trails. The park itself offers over 5,500+ acres featuring plenty of hikes, springs, a campground, gift shop, and a visitors center. Since the Honeysuckle Trail is very easy and accessible, you and your pup can easily pair this short hike with another activity or hike within the park!Â
The trail is a wonderful place to start, as its not too far from the visitor's center. Grab a map, and head out to the Hot Springs Mountain Drive, where the trail will officially begin with a gentle ascent into the forest. It is said that the Honeysuckle Trail serves as a 'shortcut' to access the park's woofderful picnic shelter that's located at the intersection of the three trails: Honeysuckle Trail and two more pawpular trails known as Floral Trail and Hot Springs Mountain Trail.
Do not expect to see much along the Honeysuckle Trail, although a unique combination of pines and hardwood trees make for a beautiful Autumn stroll when the leaves are changing colors. The terrain itself is packed hard with gravel. For the most part, it offers an easy walk, with the exceptions of a few steep spots. If you and your furry companion wish to continue adventuring, the Honeysuckle Trail easily splinters into additional trails. Just make sure to take a map with you so you can find your way out! The Honeysuckle Trail will satisfy your craving for the outdoors, without wearing out your paws! Remember to keep the park clean by picking up any trash and by removing your pup's waste.Â
