Description

If you’re looking for an easy, fun hike to do with your dog, check out Kingfisher Trail! This paved loop trail is 0.5 miles long, and it’s especially busy in the morning, which is when birdwatchers go to see their favorite birds. Pups are welcome to join you on the trail on-leash.

The trail begins next to a scenic picnic area with a restroom. Water fountains and vending machines with water bottles are also available in this picnic area. When you walk onto the trail, you’ll immediately see the beautiful La Maumelle River. There are also 500 to 600-year-old Bald Cypress trees lining the trail, providing shade and snifftastic scenery during your walk.

As you walk along the mostly flat trail, you’ll follow the La Maumelle River. Beautiful wildflowers often bloom on this trail in the spring. There’s also tons of wildlife that lives along this trail, including many different species of birds. There are lots of signs along the trail that provide more information about the trees and wildlife you’re seeing.

The trail can get buggy during the warmer months of the year, so it’s a good idea to bring insect repellent. You’ll also want to bring doggy bags with you for your walk. Water is only available next to the trailhead, so be sure to fill up your bottle before you head out on your trek.

If you’d like to have lunch before or after your walk, dogs are welcome in the picnic area next to the trailhead. There are also charcoal grills here where you can make burgers or hot dogs for you and your pup.

Kingfisher Trail is an easy, scenic hike that you and your dog will both love. If you want to walk along a peaceful river and through a lovely forest with your dog, Kingfisher Trail is perfect for you!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
