Today is a great day to pack up your fur-ever friend and head out for a hike. Check out the Indian Valley Wildlife Area in Clearlake Oaks, California, to begin your adventure.
Surrounding the Indian Valley Reservoir, this wildlife area offers 5000 acres of land for you and your pawtastic pup to explore. There are miles of trails winding throughout. Pick up the various trailheads at the entrance to the wildlife area on Indian Valley Reservoir Road.Â
You can choose your adventure every time you visit with over 100 miles of hiking trails throughout the wildlife area and the surrounding reservoir. There are paths that are rated as easy, moderate and difficult, so there is something for every pup-ability and skill level here. Short trails and long trails will greet you when you arrive.Â
The terrain varies, but all trails are made of natural footing, which is easy on the paws and feet! You will be treated to views of mountain tops, open spaces throughout the valley floors, and miles of scenic vistas along the shorelines of the reservoir waters. Don’t forget your fishing pole and camera on one of your explorations. Binoculars are highly recommended for bird watching here.
If you and your pup are up for an extended visit, check out the campgrounds which are pup-friendly and offer hiking and equestrian trails from its location. Restrooms are found at the main wildlife area’s entrance, and the campsite offers drinking water to refill your bottles. Pups are welcome on all trails, but must remain leashed for their safety and the safety of the local wildlife.Â
Your puptastic bestie will be tuckered out when you head home from your adventure at the Indian Valley Wildlife Area. Check it out today!
