You and your pup are in for a sweet treat in Sonora, California! A hike, which tops them all for scenic beauty and a little surprise, can be found at the Indigeny Reserve located here.Â
The Indigeny Reserve is an apple orchard spanning a whopping 160 acres. This orchard is known for it's hard apple cider and other delicacies made with their abundance of apples. Almost 30,000 pieces of fruit grow here, which makes for stunning scenery and an educational aspect to your hike. The entire grounds are well-manicured and resemble a lushly appointed park.
You and your pup will find two trails, each meandering through the reserve for 1.5 miles, and one shorter path. Take the short path to visit the barn on site and remnants of an old gold mine. The other two trails are loops which immerse you in and around the grounds of the apple orchard. You will even get to hike across a covered bridge here! Direct views of Phoenix Lake can also be had as you enjoy this beautiful country.Â
Your pup is welcome to hike on the trails with you, and of course your trip would not be complete without stopping for a sample of their sweet cider and distilled brandy at the tasting room., courtesy of the house. You can taste for yourself all the hard work put into this reserve. Many visitors bring a lunch to enjoy on the patio or picnic area. Both are welcoming to Fido on leash.
Restrooms and drinking fountains are on site, but please bring water bottles for your hike, especially during the summer months. Also, clean up after your fur-ever friend to keep this rare opportunity of a hike puptastic.
The Indigeny Reserve goes out of it's way to welcome your pup! Visit today for a spectacular hike together and memories which will last a lifetime!
