You can pick up the trailheads for the various hiking trails at the main park entrance or the Jacks Peak parking area within the park itself. Follow directional signs and you will be ready to hike! Trails are all dirt footing which your pup will love.
There are 11 trails in all, each taking you on a different adventure and each of a different length. All are under 1.2 miles which makes for a great, short, and beautiful hike. Try Jack’s Peak Trail at 0.3 miles or the Skyline Trail measuring about 0.8 miles. Either one heads out from the Jacks Peak parking area and offers outstanding scenery and a pup-friendly hike through open spaces and forested hills.
Maybe the Pine Trail, Sage Trail or Madrone Trail 1.1-mile hike to the Hidden Meadow area will suit you better. These can be accessed directly from the main entrance parking lot. They offer superb wildlife viewing, streams, and forested scenic views which will delight any person or pup! You can’t go wrong with any of the trails here as they feature the best Monterey has to offer.
Restrooms and water fountains are located at both parking lots, as well as the East Picnic area in the meadow. A first aid station is provided at the maintenance yard at the main entrance, if the need arises. Your fur-ever friend needs to remain on leash throughout your visit here, and please clean up after them to keep this park enjoyable for non-pup people!
