This route has plenty of shade, and it's easy to follow the markings. You can pick up the trail that circles the lake at the main boat ramp near the park entrance. The easiest part of the route follows the north side of Jenkinson Lake and includes day use areas with restrooms, picnic areas, and campsites. At some points, you'll be traveling along campground roads. Along the way, enjoy the views of the crystal-clear lake water. Once you reach the Hazel Day Use Area, the path will arc back to the southwest. Hike through the thick forest to the Sly Park Creek Bridge where you'll be able to view the waterfall. The southern leg is more rugged and doesn't have any day-use areas.
Sly Park Recreation Area is pet-friendly except for the swimming areas. You'll need to keep your furry pal on a leash, but it can be as long as ten feet. Make sure you remove your pup's waste. Bring water along for your hike.
The hike around Jenkinson Lake offers a fun outing for you and your pooch. Whether you take a short stroll along the water or hike the full loop, you'll be able to see wildflowers, the sparkling lake, and resident wildlife. There are plenty of picnic areas and spots where you can stop along the way to share a snack or meal with your four-footed friend.
