Description
The beautiful Lake Lurleen State Park is one of Alabama's most prized parks. Containing over 1,600+ acres and a 250-acre lake (Lake Lurleen), this park offers pups and their owners quite the weekend retreat hiking one of the many dog-friendly trails. The Lake Lurleen Lakeside Trail is one such trail which you and Fido cannot miss out on! The Lakeside Trail is a short and easy-moderate hike to complete with your pup. Novice hikers and mountain bikers frequently use this woof-taking trail, which hugs the pristine shoreline of Lake Lurleen. There is a small entrance fee to enter the park and enjoy the trails, but it's well worth it!

If you're new to the park, or simply unsure of where to start, the Lake Lurleen Lakeside Trail is for you. Your journey will begin at the South Trailhead, located just off the parking lot. At this point, you and Fido can take advantage of the park's amenities, such as picnic tables, a swimming beach, restrooms, and more. To begin hiking the Lakeside Trail, follow the well-marked signs to your left and follow the trail for two miles until you reach the start of the Tashka Trail. At this point, you can either turn around and hike the easy two miles back to the parking lot or continue along the ruff and rugged Tashka Trail for another 9-mile stretch.

The Lakeside Trail has an easy incline, which makes it the ideal hike for small or large pups. Enjoy the cool shade provided by the canopy of trees above as you stroll lakeside with Fido on-leash! If you wish to stay longer at the Lake Lurleen State Park to take advantage of its system of trails, then consider sleeping overnight at the Lake Lurleen Campground. Remember to pick up after any waste your doggoe leaves behind and take out any trash you brought in! Most of all, enjoy your furiffic expedition hiking on the beautiful Lakeside Trail!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
