Description

Search no longer for a great hike in the state of Kentucky! The city of Golden Pond offers the Long Creek Trail for those hikers that are looking for more of a pawtastic stroll with their pup in tow! Located in the southwestern portion of the state, the trail is situated inside the Land Between the Lakes National Recreational Area.

Long Creek Trail is one of just five fabulous trails that intertwine within the 170,000 acres of open land. Stop by the Nature Station to see a list of all the trails, but a pup-tastic choice is Long Creek. This trail offers plenty of viewing opportunities for nature lovers. You will encounter plenty of the area’s wildlife, including migrating birds, and plenty of wildflowers.

The trailhead is well-marked where you start your journey for this quick, but beautiful walk. Begin your 0.2-mile stroll on this paved path which is well-suited for all pup-abilities. Elderly pups will particularly enjoy this walk as well as wheelchair users. Check out the guide that is located here pointing out different features along your walk.

As you reach Long Creek, you can get off the path and walk on the landscaped grassy areas alongside which make a great place to relax. This trail is situated between two area lakes, Hematite and Honker Lake, which makes a perfect backdrop for some fur-ific photo ops with Fido!

Any season of the year will be the perfect time to hike here. The trail is maintained year-round so there are no excuses not to take that fur-ball for a walk! You will find restrooms at the nature center and drinking fountains to fill your water bottles.

This bottomland forest pup-friendly trail is waiting for you and Fido to enjoy here in Golden Pond!
