Veteran's Park Trail is a short, four-mile trail that many people enjoy strolling or biking through every day. It is a single track "lollipop" loop trail through the scenic forest. You and Fido will enjoy the changing seasonal colors, winding creek, and fresh atmosphere.
Throughout the trail, you will notice some small changes in elevation, but there are different ways to challenge yourself along the way. Some areas have log rollovers or higher rocks for those looking for a more difficult terrain, or you can go around them for an easier pathway.
If you are looking to avoid a crowd, it is recommended that you go early in the day, late in the evening, or before the lunch crowd, since this a very popular trail at peak times.
Since this trail is used so frequently by bike riders, you will run into a "fix station" along the path where you and Fido can rest and share the area with bikers in need of breaks or bike repairs.
Basic rules of trailway courtesy are enforced, such as keeping to the right and passing on the left, whether you are biking or walking, and moving off of the trail when you are stopped.
In general, you will find a smooth trail without many roots or dangers for you and Fido, so if you are looking for an easy hike with optional challenges, this is the trail for you.
To enter the park, you will need to drive to the top of the hill and park at a shelter. Follow the map to the trailhead. This will lead you to a paved path where the trail forks into a Y. If you are looking for the easier route, you will go right. The tougher, more challenging path is to the left. Either way, the trail will loop back to the intersection where you started.
