Martial Cottle Park is the newest park managed by the Santa Clara County Park's and Recreation Department, and it sits on 287 acres of land. Not only does this San Jose gem have all sorts of wildflowers and organic farming fields, but it also has miles of recreational trails for you to explore with your dog on a leash!Â
There's a 2.4-mile loop around the perimeter of the park, and this paved trail is ideal not only for dog walking, but also for pushing a stroller or wheelchair, jogging, cycling, or inline skating. More than three-quarters of the park can be explored via the perimeter trail, but if you've got a hyper hound at the end of that leash who needs a little more exercise, extend your walk on the park's other boardwalks and paths.
During your visit, you'll come across a playground with farm animal structures, a visitor's center with plenty of information about the history and future of the park, barbecue and picnic areas, and a rock structure. Plenty of families choose Martial Cottle Park as the destination for their family gatherings because it is so convenient, clean, and family-friendly.
If you're walking the perimeter trail with your pet and find yourselves getting thirsty, you'll be pleased to know there is fresh drinking water available -- just bring a bottle for yourself and a bowl for your pup. There are also porta-potties on site, but be sure to bring doggie bags for your dog.
It will cost $6 to park at Martial Cottle Park for a whole day, but if you're planning a shorter visit, you can also pay $2 an hour for parking.
Whether you head to Martial Cottle Park to get a workout in with your dog or you're looking for a dog-friendly place to host a family activity, you're sure to love this beautiful Santa Clara County park!
