Description

Medicine Lake Regional Trail is a scenic 15.6-mile point-to-point trail that takes you past beautiful parks and by lots of picturesque lakes. Dogs are welcome to join you on this furrific trail on-leash.

Medicine Lake Regional Trail has two trailheads: one at the Elm Creek Park Reserve at the northern end of the trail and one at West Medicine Lake Park at the southern end of the trail. Both trailheads have parking lots, restrooms, and water fountains where you can grab water for you and your pup. Be sure to bring clean up bags for the journey.

If you start at the Elm Creek Park Reserve trailhead, one of the first sights you’ll pass is beautiful Elm Creek Dam. This dam sits at the end of Rice Lake. Right after that, you’ll reach the Maple Grove Arboretum. This arboretum is home to over 100 native trees, and it also has a lovely pavilion that’s filled with sculptures.

As you continue along the trail, you’ll pass by some of Maple Grove’s peaceful suburban neighborhoods. Then, you’ll reach Fish Lake Regional Park, which is home to a puptastic off-leash dog run. This seven-acre off-leash area is fenced, and it features separate sections for large and small dogs to play in. To use this pawesome off-leash area, you’ll need to purchase a daily or seasonal pass.

Once your pup is finished playing, put their leash back on and continue down the trail. As you walk, you’ll pass a few more small lakes. Then, you’ll reach scenic Medicine Lake itself. The trail hugs this lake, providing great water views. After you pass by Medicine Lake, you’ll reach the trail’s southern trailhead in West Medicine Lake Park. Here, you’ll find plenty of benches and picnic tables where you can relax with your pup after your walk.

Medicine Lake Regional Trail is a fun, paved urban trail that provides tons of scenic water views you and your pup will love!
