Mission Creek Preserve

Are you a desert lover looking for a pawtastic hike to enjoy with your fur-ever friend in the Desert Hot Springs area of California? Look no further than the Mission Creek Preserve. You will not be disappointed! The Mission Creek Preserve covers an expansive 33,000 acres and is a part of the Sand to Snow Preserve system, and offers an 8 mile trail for you and your dog to enjoy.

The trailhead can be found on Mission Creek Road where there is a parking lot and a locked but walk-thru gate. There is information about the trail here, and a few stone houses. These are left overs from the area's old ranches which have been supplied with picnic tables for you to enjoy a lunch with your pup. 

Your hike, which is rated as moderate, will meander you through the San Gorgonio Wilderness. Desert willows, blooming cactus, a mixture of wildlife and a flowing stream accentuate this pawsome trail as it steadily climbs. The diverse landscape will keep your pup entertained and will never let you put down your camera! Gorgeous mountain views abound along the entire trek.

This trail will lead you to other connecting trails, such as the Pacific Crest Trail, which is clearly marked, and numerous trails in the San Gorgonio Wilderness area.  You can head out for as long or as short a hike as you would like. 

Please be advised to keep your pup on leash throughout your journey. There is no water available here, so be sure to pack plenty, and snacks as well. Cleaning up after your pup on the trail is much appreciated and will keep this trail puptastic!
