Beautiful Mori Point is the newest addition to the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. This promontory of land is surrounded by ocean on three sides for furrific views you can enjoy with your on-leash fur family. Portions of the trail are paved and accessible to strollers and wheelchairs, so bring the whole human family, too.
Located in Pacifica just off Highway 1, Mori Point has some limited (but delightfully free!) trailhead parking. On sunny weekend days, expect the lot to be full by mid-morning, so consider an off-peak visit. Limited parking means limited trail traffic, too, and Mori Point's serenity will make your pups forget that they're about 15 minutes from downtown San Francisco.
The Mori Point Loop starts at the parking area on the Old Mori Trail. Head toward the waterfront and take the Bootlegger's Steps down to the sand. Make a quick side-trip down the Mori Point Headlands Trail to soak up the beachy view. In spring, your trek will be lined by wildflowers of every hue. Get plenty of dog pics to immortalize your journey!
The trail involves some steep hills that can be slick after a fresh rain, so chose appropriate footwear and make sure your pups can handle the workout. The beautiful Pacific vistas and rolling green hills are worth every bit of effort. Even if your doggos aren't impressed by a view, they'll love making new furry friends along the trail at this dog walking hotspot.
You'll return to the parking area via the rugged Tigmigtac Trail. However, Tigmigtac isn't maintained by NPS and will require some scrambling for Fifi and Fido. If your pups are too tender-footed for that, just shorten the loop via the by taking the lefthand connection to the Coastal Trail, which will lead east to the Lishuma Trail. Lishuma crosses both the Upper Mori and Old Mori Trails for a return to Mori Point Road. Restrooms are available in the parking area, as well as trash receptacles for any poo bags you pack out.
