Description

Searching for the pawfect beachside hike where you and Fido can chase the waves and indulge in the beauty of the Pacific Ocean? The Rockaway Point Trail is just the spot for you. Pets are welcome here, but you’ll have to keep them safely on a leash. You can find water fountains throughout, but it's always best to bring your own! You should always remember to bring doggy bags, too.

This pawpular California beach trail is the perfect place to catch some rays and watch the surfers on the water. Once you’ve parked in one of the lots and picked an entrance to the beach, make your way out onto the sand. Or, you can follow along with the paved trail towards the secluded area at the end. Here, the trail loops around, and you can take your time watching the birds and enjoying the sights before making your way out-and-back the way you entered.

The Pacifica State Beach is open year-round, and it’s a popular attraction for locals and tourists alike. You’ll likely find a crowded beach when you visit, especially if you visit during peak hours. Joggers, surfers, families, and other pet parents also frequent the area. Rockaway Point, however, is considered something of a hidden gem, so you may find it more secluded than the main beaches along the way.

The Rockaway Point Trail is not like traditional, woodsy hikes. You can choose to walk along the water, where Fido can splash in the surf. Some choose to explore areas along the way, as there are various unmarked trails branching out that you can explore. Or, you can walk along the trail, sticking to the dedicated path. The Rockaway Point Trail truly embodies the spirit of California, giving you a slight incline on the way to catching a beautiful sunset.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
