Description

Are you visiting the central Arkansas area and looking for some pawtastic hiking? Mossy Bluff Trail is the place to be with Fido. It is part of the Greers Ferry system of trails which offer hikers quality outdoor time to enjoy with your fur-ever friend.

Set in the beautiful Arkansas Ozark region of the state, take them on a journey throughout the woods along a scenic bluff which overlooks the Little Red River. It runs just below the Greers Ferry Dam and offers the sounds of rushing water to lull you in tranquility while you walk. Your pup will enjoy cooling his paws here on a hot summer day, although it is not advised to allow them to swim. There are swimming holes for people to enjoy, however.

The trail is used by walkers, more avid hikers and runners as well, so be advised to keep your pup close to you. This .8-mile trek takes you along a relatively level 2.5’ wide path that is compacted and easily traversed. This part of the trail is suitable for all pup-abilities.

Towards the end of the hike, you will encounter a set of stairs, leading you to the scenic vistas of the area. These 96 steps will allow you to see the dam, the National Fish Hatchery and the river from the top. Once you end your climb, there are plenty of benches to take in all the surrounding beauty where you can relax your weary feet and paws! Be advised these stairs might be too much for those pups that are not very physically active, so plan accordingly.

If you want to extend your stay here, there are camping spots off the trail, which are available to use on a first-come, first-serve basis. Enjoy your pup-tastic day at the Mossy Bluff Trail.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
