Description

If your pup needs to see the beach and the mountains in one sitting, there's no better place to take them than the Mountains to Sea Trail. The name doesn't lie, as the trail crosses over 22 miles, 5 cities and 50,000 acres of open space from Newport Beach to the mountainous Weir Canyon Nature Preserve. The trail is made up a number of different types of ground cover, from crushed rock to asphalt, and even soil in different places.

The scenery is spectacular no matter where you are, and you'll be able to enjoy lovely views of lush fields with green areas, mountain peaks lining the background, and waves crashing along the shore. You'll even get a nice urban view, where you can see the features and designs of different city landscapes.

The trail goes from moderate to easy, and although it is mostly flat with a short incline, it is still long and will definitely take all day to enjoy. The first point of the trail, Newport Beach, is dog-friendly, allowing leashed dogs to play on the sandy shore before 10 AM and after 4:30 PM. The Weir Canyon Nature Preserve along the way is also dog-friendly, and has over 20,000 acres to explore and play in.

The trail itself is 120 inches wide, which allows plenty of space to pass by for joggers, walkers, and bikers. There are even ponds and streams the trail passes over that create places for swimming too.

Even though you'll have to bring same water and clean-up bags along the way, the trail still makes for a perfect day's adventure for you and Fido, not just because of its easy walking space, but thanks to its serene landscape and peaceful space where you and your pup won't be bothered.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.

Cautions & Considerations
The path is completely unshaded and lacks trees around the trail, so be sure to bring plenty of sunscreen or booties for your pup, in case the asphalt gets too hot during the summer.
