Omer Rains Coastal Bike Trail

Are you and your pup looking for a hiking adventure a little closer to home?  The Omar Rains Coastal Bikeway is located in the city of Ventura, California, and offers a puptastic hike through the community with access to the local amenities.

You can pick up the trailhead for this hike at the Ventura Pier where a parking structure is right next door. Just $2/hour or $10 for the day will get you settled and ready for your hike. Take your pup, a leash and some bottled water and you are off! The two endpoints of the trail, the San Buenaventura State Beach and the Emma Wood State Beach, are other places to park and pick up the trail as well.

The path is paved the entire 8.6 miles and offers hikers, joggers and bicyclists a nearly level trail that winds through Ventura and past local attractions. You will pass through Seaside Wilderness Park and Seaside Park as you hike past the promenade, and fishing pier. Take some time to walk down the famous pier jutting out into the ocean. 

The trail continues its route, meandering along the coastline. You will be treated to ocean views throughout your hike, making for spectacular scenery along the way. Feel the coastal breezes as you and your pup enjoy your pawtastic hike together. Open spaces and beautiful wildflowers grow in the area removed a bit from the more crowded sections by the pier.

Benches and restrooms can be found along the way, and water bottles can be refilled. Be sure to clean up after your pup and dispose of the waste in the receptacles along the path. This shared-use trail can become quite busy, especially during the summer, so keep your pup close.
