Point Isabel Regional Shoreline

If you're a hiker and a dog mom or dad, Point Isabel Regional Shoreline is the pawfect place for you! This two-mile-long loop trail is located less than 20 miles from San Francisco.

This trail only takes about an hour to hike, but if you're looking to make a day of it, that's easy to do. If you want to bring a lunch along, you can -- the trail is located in a park with picnic shelters. Make sure you bring along your phone or camera as well, as the trail offers pawsitively breathtaking views of the San Francisco Bay. Many hikers also enjoy doing some bird-watching in the park, but that might be hard to do with an energetic pup running around.

There are plenty of things that make Point Isabel pawesome, but one of our favorites is how dog-friendly the trail is! There aren't many trails where your pup is allowed to run around off-leash, but this is one of them. Be aware that your dog must respond to your commands in order to enjoy some off-leash fun. You're also expected to always have a leash on you. Waste disposal stations are available for you to use, and water is set out for your pup.

There isn't much shade along this trail, and with the beautiful, California sunshine, that can be a bit of a problem. Make sure you bring along sunscreen to use, and you might want to get your pup some boots to keep their paws from getting blistered on the hot pathway. It's better to be safe than sorry!
