Description

Pulgas Ridge Open Space Preserve is a beautiful, hilly preserve with lots of trails to hike on with your dog. This preserve has six miles of trails to explore, and dogs are welcome to join you on the trails on-leash.

The Cordilleras Trail is perfect for anyone looking for a short, scenic hike. This trail is 0.8 miles long and mostly flat, and it takes you past Cordilleras Creek and through a beautiful wooded valley with a bench where you can relax with your pup.

If you’re looking for a longer hike, try the two-mile Blue Oak-Hassler-Polly Geraci Trail Loop. Start your hike on the Blue Oak Trail, which begins near the preserve’s main parking lot. Follow this trail for 0.4 miles, and then hop onto the Hassler Trail. This trail will take you up a hill where you’ll get great views of the surrounding area. You’ll also see lots of lovely wildflowers, including lilies, hound’s tongue, milkmaids, and Indian warriors.

After you’ve walked about 0.3 miles, you’ll see the Polly Geraci Trail. Turn right onto this trail, and follow it for the remainder of your hike. As you walk along this trail, you’ll go up ridges with pawesome views, and you’ll also walk along peaceful Cordilleras Creek. There are plenty of benches along the way where you can take a break and enjoy the views of the preserve.

If you’d like to let your dog play off-leash after your walk, Pulgas Ridge Preserve has a 17-acre off-leash area. This pawesome unfenced area is located in the center of the preserve, and it’s accessible from many of the preserve’s main trails.

Pulgas Ridge Preserve is a furrific preserve with tons of sights that you and your pup will both love! Bring some doggy bags so you can clean up after your dog during your hike, and enjoy trekking here.
