Description

Are you looking for a camping, climbing and cabin-finding adventure with your canine companion? Then the Resurrection Pass trail is a mutts-see! This heavenly hike begins in Hope and brings you through the unforgettable Chugach National Forest on a journey that could only be described as one of your most exciting excursions yet! This point-to-point path can take anywhere from one to four days to complete, and this pupperific promenade gets better with every passing hour. Cabins are often difficult to rent during peak times in the summer, but this trail is just as wondrous in quieter winter as it is in spring. If you’ve got a snow-loving pooch, then you can pack a sled and take a frosty frolic in the colder months! There are eight charming cabins along the route, as well as multiple campsites, so whether you’re indoors or out for the night, you can avail of the amenities on-site in these pawfect pit-stops.

This trail begins by passing over Resurrection Creek and starts with a gradual uphill climb into the wondrous woods. The forest is bursting with greenery, and yet there are still plenty of breaks in the towering trees to catch sight of your incredible surroundings. There are whimsical wooden bridges crossing the river, and the views just get better as you climb higher with every moving mile!

Devil’s Pass Cabin signifies the highest resting point of the trail -- prepare yourself for some breathtaking sights here. Your journey down the mountains then takes you to Juneau Lake Cabin, which is much beloved by barking besties because of the picture-perfect lake that you and your pooch can dip paws into if you need to unwind and cool down.

Do remain alert while hiking, as bears and moose are never too far away! Try out the Resurrection Pass Trail if you and your hound are hungry for a challenging but charming trail that you will never forget.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.

Cautions & Considerations
Resurrection Pass is located in a very remote area where weather can be harsh and unpredictable. Water from lakes and creeks needs to be treated, and clean drinking water is not always easily sourced along the path. This Alaskan trail is home to all three species of North American bears, so act responsively and respectfully. The hiking trail can become impassible during heavy snows, and the area is at risk for avalanches.  Ensure you have followed guidelines and prepared properly before setting off with your pooch. Note that the trailhead is located 4 miles down Resurrection Creek Road.
