Description

Ring Mountain Open Space is a stunning nature preserve in Marin County between Tiburon and Corte Madera. The space was saved from development through the efforts of conservationists, and the community has benefitted greatly from their efforts. The preserve spans nearly 400 acres around Ring Mountain, whose grassland slopes, rock formations, and oak clusters make for a truly breathtaking setting. The Phyllis Ellman Loop Trail runs around the preserve and provides an opportunity for people to hike through it and enjoy its natural beauty and tranquil ambiance. You will definitely want to explore this trail if you are in the area, and you can bring your dog with you on your hike!

There are no maps provided at the park, but as you first enter, there is a QR code you can scan with your phone for information. There are posts along the trail that guide you around the loop, which can be taken either clockwise or counterclockwise. Either way, you will cross through meadows and meander up a moderate incline to the top of the mountain. Keep an eye out for wildflowers and rare plants that are unique to this area, like the Tiburon Mariposa Lily — Ring Mountain is the only place on earth it can be found! You will also cross a stream as you walk on the loop trail, as well as some interesting boulders and rock formations.

When visiting any trail, be sure to follow its guidelines and proper trail etiquette. Keep in mind that dogs must remain leashed at all times at Ring Mountain Open Space and that you will have to bring your own bags to clean up after your pooch. Also note that there are no restrooms at the preserve, nor is there drinking water.

Ring Mountain Open Space is a fantastic place to explore with your dog; you are sure to enjoy its great scenery, rare plants, and geological features while you and your furry friend hike!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
