Description

The Royal Oaks Park is a great place to let your furry best friend stretch their legs! Nestled in a small valley in north Monterey County, this day use site offers 122 acres of grassy and wooded space for nature-loving pups to enjoy.

The oldest park in the county, Royal Oaks remains a favorite among local families and outdoor enthusiasts thanks to the recreational opportunities available here. There are over 3 miles of hiking trails for your curious pooch to explore, and these are all interconnected so you can lengthen or shorten your trek as you please. All of the paths are adequately shaded as they weave among oak trees, and the 0.3-mile Pine Meadow Trail will lead you and Fido into a pine grove environmental area. If your pup does well under voice control, they may go off-leash on the hiking trails. Otherwise, keep the leash on for everyone's safety and enjoyment! Don't forget to pick up after Fido, and bring your own waste bags!

After getting a good workout on the trails, stop by a picnic site to share a packed lunch with your four-legged pal. There is ample lawn space as well, if you prefer to spread a blanket under the shade of the oak trees. Other on-site facilities include restrooms, drinking fountains, playground equipment, and athletic fields and courts. There are also four group picnic facilities that can be rented, and other than the occasional large party or gathering, the park is usually quiet, according to visitors. It has also been reported that there is no cell phone reception here, so you can really focus on spending some quality time with your doggo!

Note that Royal Oaks' hours vary throughout the year—the park always opens at 8 AM, but closing time ranges between 5 PM and 8 PM. Check the website first before going, and you and Fido should have a puptastic experience at the Royal Oaks Park!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
