Saratoga, California is known for its scenic beauty and pup-friendly hiking trails, so if you and your fur-ever pup want to get away, you can head to the Sanborn County Park located here! You will be treated to 3400 acres of nature with excellent hiking opportunities.
Park at the main entrance to the Sanborn County Park where you will find many choices of pawtastic trails to choose from! One option is to pick up the San Andreas Trail which has a steady uphill climb, but not too strenuous for a fit pup! There is plenty of shade to be had along this route, but give your pup plenty of rest breaks anyway! You can hike here for approximately 3 miles where you will be able to connect with another fur-ific trail.
The Sanborn Trail is a loop trail which meanders through wildflower fields for 4.5 miles. It winds you right through the park’s campground where you can hop off the trail for an overnighter with Fido if you would like to extend your adventure. Or, continuing it back to the beginning will take you through grasslands and forested redwood areas.
While on either of these hikes, you can discover other spur trails along the way, making for quiet an exciting adventure. The spurs all offer short excursions in different directions for some additional fun to your already pup-tastic day! All the trails in the park have natural dirt footpaths which are easy on the paws!
Fido will love the varied terrain here and weekdays will offer you less ‘company’ along the way. There is a visitor’s center at the park entrance where you will find restroom facilities and drinking fountains. Pick any of these easy to moderate-rated trails for a great outing with your fur-ever friend in sunny Saratoga!
The park trails can get quite crowded on weekends. Please stay on the trails to avoid causing undo harm to the surrounding lands.
