If Seven Hollows Trail isn’t already on your pup’s barket list, it will be now. Located in Arkansas’ Petit Jean State Park, this pupperific trail is full of rocky wonder. The trail’s name comes from the seven streams that run through the area. Over thousands of years, they have carved out pawsome rock hollows. Your pup will love exploring all the nooks and crannies this trail has to offer.
Unfurtunately, a recent forest fire burned the mature trees and canopy of the trail’s first mile. But don’t worry, wildflowers, weeds and new growth pines make this area beautiful. As you and your pup move into the second mile, you’ll enter the first hollow. It features a natural sandstone bridge. After it rains, there’s also a pretty impressive waterfall in this area. Â
The next section of the trail brings you into the second hollow. If your pup wants to see something cool, take a short detour to the Grotto, or a box canyon with another waterfall. Enjoy the refreshing mist before heading down the trail to the next hollow, which you’ll pass through quickly. The last mile or so of the trail runs through the fourth hollow. With a creek and tall sandstone cliffs, this area will delight your doggo. Before looping back to the trailhead, look for the remains of 1920s bootlegging operation.
The landscape of this trail is unlike anything your pup has ever seen. Plus, they’ll love splashing in all the streams and waterfalls. This is a pupular trail for pets and their people, so do your part to keep it clean and pick up after your pooch. The park’s Visitors Center is just up the road from the trailhead. Here you will find restrooms and more information about the area.  Be sure to snap a photo with your furry friend, this is one hike you’ll want to remember fur-ever!
