Description
Are you a Livermore resident or happen to be traveling in the area with your pooch? Then take a break from the city and explore the preserved grasslands of the Sycamore Grove Park! The park has dozens of trails to discover, but the Valley View Trail set at the back of the park offers pups and their owners a full morning of exercise and outdoor recreation! Pawpular times to go are during the cooler seasons, as summer tends to be too hot for most people and their canines.

Setting out to explore the scenic Valley View Trail requires a little preparation; bring plenty of water and your hiking boots, as this trail can only be accessed once already inside the park. From the parking lot via the Wetmore park entrance, you and your canine will begin your journey on either the Arroyo Del Valley Regional Trail (more pawpular) or the smaller Winery Loop Trail.

If you take the Arroyo Del Valley Region Trail, your itinerary will be: Arroyo Regional Trail > Walnut Trail > Wagon Road Trail > Valley View Trail. On the other paw, if you begin on the Winery Loop Trail, your itinerary will be: Winery Loop Trail > Wagon Road Trail > Valley View Trail. Both options will meander through spacious grassland with chances to see wooftastic wildlife and beautiful scenery. At the end of the Valley View Trail is a scenic viewpoint overlooking the city of Livermore and Danville and the wooftaking peak of Mount Diablo!

Pets are required to have a leash at all times while on the trails, as the trails are also shared with bikers and horse riders. No matter which path you choose to reach the scenic Valley View Trail at the back of the park, you and your pup will have a memorable day of hiking together in the Sycamore Grove Park! Make sure to bring a camera to snap some shots of the panoramic views and abundant wildlife!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.

Cautions & Considerations
The Valley View Loop is relatively short, however, you must first hike through the park to reach it, thus extending the total mileage to nearly 4 miles roundtrip. There is a high risk of wildfire on this trail and within the park. Be cautious and contact the local park ranger before beginning your trip. Bring plenty of drinking water.
