Description
The Tiburon Ridge Trail is a lengthy one-way trail for the truly adventurous hiker and canine duo! The journey begins from the scenic Ring Mountain Open Space Preserve and follows along the Tiburon Peninsula all the way to the Tiburon Uplands Open Space Preserve. Expect a very diverse landscape and terrain on this trail, such as grassy hills, residential neighborhoods, steep inclines, fire roads, and some street crossings. While it does take a bit of effort to complete, this hike is more than rewarding with its scenic, unhindered views of North Bay from the open ridge top.

You will begin your hike via Ring Mountain Fire Road Trail via the Los Altos Access. Parking is free in a residential neighborhood so please be respectful of private property. Follow the Ring Moutain Fire Rd deeper into the Ring Fire Mountain Open Space Preserve. Along the way, expect various climbs and downhill grassy slopes, with panoramic views the higher you go in elevation. Your pup should always remain on-leash, as this is a natural preserve and wildlife is abundant. The Tiburon Ridge Trail will continue officially from the Ring Mountain Open Space Preserve and will continue to follow the ridgeline across the Tiburon Peninsula.

About mid-way into your trek, you will need to cross a section of Hacienda Drive on foot, so please be wary of cars and traffic. The trail quickly continues into the Middle Range Open Space for a short while before going into private neighborhoods. Follow the official trail into Old St. Hillary's Open Space Preserve, where the Tiburon Ridge Trail comes to an end. Soak in the magnificent view of North Bay, Angel Island, and the Golden Gate bridge in the distance!

From here, you'll need to find public transport back to your parked car. Otherwise, you can rent a bike, or walk back along the scenic Tiburon Bike Path down Tiburon Boulevard, in order to work in the last bit of hike for the day. Make sure to go ready for a full day of hiking if you wish to complete the Tiburon Ridge Trail!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
