Dogs aren’t allowed on the elevator up to the bridge, so you and your pup will have to take the stairs to reach the elevated path. Once you reach the top, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of the Hudson River. You’ll also get amazing views of the forest and cliffs lining the river.

As you walk along the paved, flat path, you’ll get even more pawesome views of the Hudson River and the towns around it. You’ll also pass by interpretive signs that discuss the unique history of the walkway, including its former life as a major railroad bridge. There’s no shade on the path, so if you’re there on a hot day, be sure to give your dog lots of water to keep them hydrated.

After your walk, you and your dog can relax on the benches at the bottom of the path. If you’re hungry after your stroll, there are lots of delicious dog-friendly restaurants in walking distance of the Walkway Over the Hudson.
