Description

White Rock Lake Trail is one of the most pawpular trails for biking, jogging, and dog walking in Dallas. This 9.3-mile paved trail takes you in a loop around scenic White Rock Lake, providing great views the whole way through. Dogs are welcome on this furrific trail on-leash. Be sure to bring water to share and clean up bags for the journey.

There are small parking lots all along White Rock Lake, and you can access the trail right from most of these parking lots. The trail follows White Rock Lake, and as you’re walking, you’ll get stunning views of the lake from every angle. While you’re on the trail, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the many bird species that live in and around the lake, including white pelicans, cardinals, warblers, woodpeckers, and wood ducks.

If you need a break during your walk, there are plenty of benches where you can relax and enjoy the view of the water. There are also lots of picnic areas on the lake where you can have a scenic snack with your dog.

As you walk along White Rock Lake Trail, you’ll pass tons of fun and unique attractions. This includes a few different playgrounds, a fish hatchery, the White Rock Lake Museum, and an outdoor workout center. But pups will be most excited to hear that the trail goes right by the White Rock Lake Dog Park! This off-leash dog park includes separate fenced areas for large and small dogs. If you need to clean up after your pup, doggy bags are available in the dog park. Your pup will love playing in this fun-filled dog park!

White Rock Lake Trail is a pawsitively amazing lakeside trail that offers picturesque water views and goes by lots of attractions you and your dog will both love. Remember to clean up after your pup while on you’re on your trek, and enjoy your day out on this trail!

Cautions & Considerations

There’s very little shade on some portions of the White Rock Lake Trail. Be sure to give your pup extra water as you’re walking on these sections, especially on hot days. Coyotes, copperhead snakes, and rattlesnakes also live in the area near the trail.
