Cedar Ridge Preserve is a pawesome 600-acre preserve that’s perfect for hiking with your furry best friend! This preserve is home to 13 trails that take you through a wide variety of natural habitats, including woodland areas and grassland. There are nine miles of trails in total in this furrific preserve, and dogs are welcome to join you on-leash.

When you drive into Cedar Ridge Preserve, the first thing you’ll see is the preserve’s large parking lot. Restrooms and water fountains are available next to the parking lot—be sure to grab plenty of water for you and your pup before you head out on your hike.

A few of Cedar Ridge Preserve’s most pawpular trails begin next to the parking lot. This includes the 0.55-mile Possumhaw Trail, a short, but scenic loop trail that takes you through a forest filled with 15 species of native trees. Or, if you’d like to go on a longer trek, the 0.9-mile Bluebonnet Trail also begins at the parking lot. This mostly level loop trail takes you to an observation tower where you’ll get sweeping views of the preserve.

Many visitors also enjoy hiking on the milelong Cattail Pond Trail, which also starts near the main parking lot. This out-and-back trail goes through a wooded area, and it passes by an observation tower where you’ll get great views of the hills around the preserve. The trail ends at lovely Cattail Pond. If you’d like to extend your hike, Cattail Pond Trail connects to a few different trails, including the 0.9-mile Fossil Valley Trail. This steep trail has the highest elevation gain in Cedar Ridge, and it takes you up to a scenic lookout point.

Cedar Ridge is a pawsitively amazing preserve with tons of beautiful trails to explore with your pup! Remember to bring doggy bags so you can clean up after your dog while you’re hiking, and have fun trekking in this preserve!
