Description

If you’re searching for a pawesome hike to do with your dog, try the Cargill Long Park Trail! This three-mile out-and-back trail follows an old rail bed, and it welcomes dogs on-leash. The trail begins at North Fourth Street. Here, you’ll find parking, a pavilion, picnic tables, restrooms, and a drinking fountain. Once you've taken care of all your business, you can start your pawesome adventures on the trail!

The trail is paved the whole way through, and it takes you through a lovely forest filled with pine trees that provide shade. There are also some portions of the trail where you’ll walk through a peaceful suburban neighborhood. Plus, there are also fun exercise stations along the trail so you can get in a little extra cardio, and there are benches if you need a break during your hike.

About halfway through the trail, you’ll pass through Patterson Park. Here, there are more restrooms, picnic tables, and drinking fountains. After that, you’ll continue going through wooded areas and suburban neighborhoods until you reach the end of the trail in Teague Park. Once you’re ready, you can head back to the start of the trail. If you’d like to have a bite to eat after you finish your walk, dogs are welcome to join you at the picnic tables near the North Fourth Street trailhead.

Some portions of the trail have limited shade — be sure to give your dog plenty of water as you’re walking through these sections. Also, doggy bags aren’t available on the trail, so it’s a good idea to bring some with you so you can clean up after your pup as you’re walking.

The Cargill Long Park Trail is a furrific paved trail with tons of attractions you and your dog will both love. Your dog’s tail will wag with excitement when they see this great trail!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
