Description
Get out and discover one of San Antonio's most woofderful spots to enjoy the outdoors, the community, and a bit of recreation! The Leon Creek North Greenway is a woof-taking, scenic section of the ruffly 19-mile Leon Creek Greenway that passes by numerous attractions and parks. While the greenway is majorly paved with asphalt, it still retains its natural, remote atmosphere and aims to preserve the riparian ecology along the streams.

The Leon Creek North Greenway is a furrific place to take a hike with Fido. However, don't be surprised to see lots of pups running alongside their owners on bicycles, as this way you can cover more ground in a shorter amount of time. Visitors to the Leon Creek North Greenway will have the oppawtunity to experience wildlife viewing amidst wildflower fields, meadows, and limestone bluffs. Several cute bridges are along this trail to assist you in crossing the Leon Creek without getting your paws wet! Take care not to disturb wildlife or the natural riparian ecosystem if you decide to explore off the trail.

The Leon Creek North Greenway also connects to various pawpular attractions and parks in San Antonio, such as the Leon Vista Park, O.P. Schnabel Park, Oxbow Park, Buddy Calk Park, Fox Park, Rhode Park, and Bamberger Nature Park, plus more. There are plenty of amenities, such as benches and rest stops along the greenway for you and Fido take some paws, enjoy a picnic lunch and rest your feet. Restrooms and drinking water access points are available at several locations along the greenway. If you decide to leave the greenway to further explore a park or do more sight-seeing within the city, you can re-enter easily at any one of the above connecting parks or trailheads.

This section of the trail is very pawpular, so it might get busy on weekends. However, the mere length of the trail makes it still a remote location to enjoy some peace and quiet with your pup! Above all, don't forget to greet your fellow hikers, bikers, and dog-owners along the trail!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
