Cameron Park is an urban park in Waco, Texas that sits on more than 416 acres. The park was created in 1910, and it also includes the Cameron Park Zoo. Within Cameron Park, you'll also find sports fields, playgrounds, picnic areas, a disc golf course, and more than 15 miles of recreation trails! The Cameron Park Trail System is one of the most extensive trail systems in Texas, and it offers something for everyone -- including dog walkers!
Your dog is welcome in Cameron Park and on the trails with you as long as you keep them on a leash and pick up after them as you go. You and your dog can choose from beginner, intermediate, or advanced trails, so you're sure to find something to fit your fitness levels. During your hike, you'll get incredible views from 100-foot bluffs that overlook the Brazos and Bosque Rivers.
If you'd like to take a gentle stroll on a concrete path, you and your pet can walk along the Waco Riverwalk. This lighted path connects Cameron Park with downtown Waco and runs along the Brazos River. You can also choose to hike the River Trail, a 3.3-mile gravel trail with an even surface. For a more extended adventure, you can take the 5.8-mile loop that takes you on the River, Highlander, Half Bopp, Bat Cave, Drain Pipe, Acts of Faith, Sidewinder, and California 56 trails. This path is rated as moderate, and it takes most hikers more than two hours to complete.
