Description

If you and your fur-ever friend are excited about hiking, head to the Thousand Oaks, California area and make a stop at Wildwood Park. Here you will find a wonderful hiking trail called the Wildwood Park to Hill Canyon Trail.

Beginning at the parking lot, you will begin your hike at the trailhead. This is a beautiful spot to have a picnic lunch either before or after your excursion on the provided picnic tables.  Be sure to pick up a trail map at their information station. Restrooms can be found in the park itself, but not along the trail, so plan accordingly.

The first stop on your journey will be Box Canyon Overlook which offers a scenic view of the area. Let your pup take a well-deserved rest before heading onward! Next stop, Lizard Rock! Another nice place to hang out with Fido. Your hike will continue for a total of 7 miles roundtrip.

Some of the areas are a bit steep but more easily traversed on foot than on a bike, depending on your fitness level. Overall however, this is a trail that is considered easy to moderate. On this shared trail, bicyclists and horses may be trail partners! Your pup should remain on leash for everyone’s safety and enjoyment.

Continue your hike across the bridge which goes over Hill Canyon Road. You will pass other trails that connect along the way, so you are welcome to head back a different way for a varied hike every time you visit!

The trail is a dirt footing, so be careful if there has been rainy weather. Because of the distance of this hike, should you want to complete the entire length of this trail, be sure to pack plenty of water and snack for you both to share.

The Wildwood Park to Hill Canyon Trail is your ticket to a pawtastic hike in Thousand Oaks!
