The Central Business District (CBD), also known as Downtown, is Detroit's bustling business and residential neighborhood where you'll find towering skyscrapers, luxury apartments, and riverside parks. The construction of two brand-new athletic stadiums that featured two world series games and a SuperBowl as well as other projects in the area have attracted businesses to return to the CBD. The Renaissance Center, a complex comprised of tall buildings, is home to General Motors and is one of the largest tourist attractions in the city.

Though only service dogs are allowed on board, stop and look up at Detroit's People Mover, a nearly three-mile elevated monorail track that loops through the community. There are lots of restaurants and shops to explore with your pet, particularly along Woodward Avenue. In the middle of the CBD is City Bark, a small shop selling a variety of pet supplies. In addition, there are many plazas, parks, and monuments scattered throughout the neighborhood waiting to be discovered.

Downtown Detroit is a mostly flat expanse of city blocks, manicured parks, and bustling crowds. The neighborhood spans about 1.4 square miles and is bordered by the Detroit River on one side and a series of highways on the other three. This is a fun neighborhood to explore thanks to its historic architecture and scenic river views. As there are many greenways and parks throughout the region, you can spend your walk away from the crowds or choose to take a stroll down Woodward Avenue for some high-end shopping or explore the streets filled with businessmen and tourists.

This is one of the busiest areas in Detroit, so always exercise caution when crossing busy roadways or encountering others. Try to avoid areas near busy highways as well as the stadiums on game day. If you want to walk your pup in the CBD with less of a crowd, head out early in the morning before rush hour.

As one of the top tourist areas in Detroit, the CBD is always kept clean and well-manicured. There are many spots to stop if you or your pet needs a rest. If you want to check out the riverfront, head to Hart Plaza, a 14-acre public space popular for hosting large events and featuring several historical monuments. The plaza also offers easy access to Detroit's Riverwalk, a 3.5-mile trail that offers magnificent city and river views.

Grand Circus Park is a lively area in the CBD's historic district that features a popular spot for dogs: Grand Circus Dog Park. Grand Circus Park also has a large fountain, quiet pathways, and many trees offering plenty of shade to relax under. It's the perfect spot to let your fur child run free and meet new friends! You'll also find some quiet, shady green spots around the neighborhood such as Harmonie Park and Capitol Park.
