In keeping with much of North Carolina, the Patterson Green neighborhood is largely flat. This makes walking in this area easy, enjoyable, and accessible to all, especially those with lower activity levels or less energy. Patterson Green is a lovely place to walk your pup whether it be a brisk mid-week walk or a longer weekend stroll. Both you and your pup will love walking in this idyllic neighborhood which is well located with Raleigh’s downtown just a stone’s throw away. The community is warm, friendly, and welcoming and you will find no shortage of people to walk with if you're more of a social butterfly.
This area is primarily residential and its streets are populated with family houses. Patterson Green is a small neighborhood, but make no mistake, it has lots to offer. Your pooch will love exploring these streets. Neighboring parks, including Moore Square, provide lots of additional walking options for those slightly longer weekend expeditions.
Unfortunately, there are no greenways within the vicinity of the Patterson Green neighborhood. However, given its small size, this is not too surprising. There are some lovely parks in the neighboring areas which would be great places to take your pup to burn off some energy instead.
Just south of the neighborhood lies the John Chavis Memorial Park. This beautiful park features a historic carousel, ball fields, playgrounds, and splash pools. As a firm family favorite, your pooch will love exploring all that this wonderful park has to offer. With plenty of shade and places to relax at your pup's side, the John Chavis Memorial Park is a great spot to bring your pup to blow off some steam as long as you keep them securely on a leash.
Another lovely walking option is Moore Square, located just north of the Patterson neighborhood. Moore Sure is one of Raleigh's two surviving original parks and hosts frequent events.
