Ocean Hill is a sub-neighborhood located on the eastern side of Brooklyn. The area is currently undergoing revitalization with public housing complexes being redeveloped and previously vacant buildings in the area being renovated. Many retail and public services are located on busy thoroughfares and residents can walk the neighborhood to reach destinations such as schools and businesses.

The weather in New York is changeable. Winters are cool and wet with some snow and summers are hot and humid. However, weather systems from the Atlantic Ocean create variable weather patterns. Winters tend not to be extremely cold due to the moderating influence of the ocean, however, damp conditions mean that warm, dry outerwear will make on-foot travel in Ocean Hill more pleasant during rainy and snowy weather.

It is defined by the Broadway rail line on the northeast, Atlantic Avenue on the south, and Saratoga Avenue on the west side. The large Evergreens Cemetery borders the neighborhood on the northeast side with manicured landscaping. Ocean Hill also has a sub-neighborhood referred to as Broadway Junction which contains mostly commercial and industrial businesses with some residential two and three-story residences.

This area is divided by the Atlantic Avenue/LIRR viaduct and is difficult to access from adjacent areas on foot. Other areas of Ocean Hill are mostly residential with walk-up apartments, brownstones, townhouses, and row housing. Landscaping is limited although mature shade trees line many residential streets and sidewalks and provide relief from summer heat. Streets in the area also follow a grid pattern and, although the area was once hilly, the terrain here after years of development is relatively flat.
