The neighborhood of Elmhurst is located in the borough of Queens, New York. The town was formerly known as Newtown and is a safe, working-class neighborhood. You and your dog will have lots of places to see as you walk along the city streets of Elmhurst. Some local landmarks to keep an eye out for are many of the area's diverse places of worship such as the Ascension Roman Catholic Church on 86th, Elmhurst Baptist on Whitney, Elmhurst Muslim Center on 79th Street, and First Presbyterian on Queens Boulevard to name a few. Elmhurst's terrain is flat and is filled with local businesses, parks, and residential areas. Due to the growing Chinese population, there is also a neighborhood within the area known as Chinatown. You and your pup can venture toward Chinatown and do a little window shopping if it suits your fancy. It is located at 45th Avenue and Whitney. If you're feeling hungry, why not head to Louie's Pizza on Baxter and have a seat with your pup in the outdoor dining area. Louie's is a local favorite!  There are also two area shopping malls you will spot as you walk including Queens Center and Queens Place. Some notable parks with different terrain to explore include Elmhurst Park on 57th, Moore Homestead on Broadway, and Newtown Playground on 92nd Street. Each park is a great place to have a seat and take a breather from all that walking!

Whether its a good, shady place to rest with your leashed pup after a long day of exploring the city or a game of fetch, Elmhurst Park is the place to go. Elmhurst Park is located on Grand Avenue in Queens and recently had a 2.3 million dollar facelift, making it modern and chic. The park features sprawling, manicured lawns, jogging and walking paths, tons of places to rest, sculptures, restrooms, safety lights, and over 600 newly planted trees to beautify the environment. Be sure to clean up after your pup inside the park and bring plenty of water to stay hydrated. There is also a playground area for the local kids! This is a great place to just stop for a little while and enjoy some one on one time with your best furry friend, providing a great way to end your day in beautiful neighborhood of Elmhurst.
