Walk Score in Munsey Park

Munsey Park is a small, suburban neighborhood located in Nassau County, New York. Most of this neighborhood is composed of standalone, single-family homes. The small commercial space located in Munsey Park houses a large, national health grocery store, a bank, a Japanese restaurant, and a national home goods store. Immediately to the south of the neighborhood is Americana Manhasset Shopping Center which has several stores for high-end and luxury brands. While there are no pet-related businesses in Munsey Park itself, there is a groomer and a pet supply store less than a mile to the west.

Like the rest of New York, Munsey Park experiences all four seasons throughout the year. During the winter, you will likely experience cold, winter days with plenty of snowfall and wind! During the summer, it will probably be rather hot and humid, so be sure to check the temperature of sidewalks or roads before walking! You always want to make sure to protect Fido's sensitive paws!

Even though Munsey Park is pretty close to the shoreline of Manhasset Bay, this neighborhood is made of artificial terrain. There is no natural terrain, but plenty of spacious and manicured lawns throughout the residential areas. There are also a few small hills in the neighborhood but nothing that should concern you and Fido or make your walk too difficult. Unfortunately, only part of this residential neighborhood has sidewalks. Depending on your route, you and your furry friend may need to share the roadways with cyclists and automobiles so always be careful and be aware of your surroundings!

The borders of Munsey Park include Kensett Road to the north, Port Washington Boulevard to the east, Northern Boulevard to the south (ironic, we know!), and Eakins Road and Munsey Place to the west. While most roads are part of residential neighborhoods, Northern Boulevard is home to a large shopping area and has higher traffic than the rest of Munsey Park.

Unfortunately, there are no greenways within the borders of Munsey Park. Thankfully, there are a few options in the surrounding options if you and Fido are looking for something more than just a generic walk. The nearest greenway is a small park to the northwest of Munsey Park. Plandome Park has some short walking trails around a small pond but it is perfect when you and your pup are looking for some natural scenery in this neighborhood.

One mile to the south of Munsey Park is Christopher Morley Park. This 98-acre park has a 9-hole golf course, tennis, basketball and volleyball courts, baseball fields, a playground, a picnicking area, an ice skating rink, a pool, a one-mile fitness trail, and space for general recreation. The best park of Christopher Morley Park is the small dog run located on the north side of the park.

Other nearby greenways are golf courses or cemetaries, so pups are unfortuantely not welcome.
