The weather for walking in Queens is usually not too cold as the coastal location moderates winter temperatures. The climate is, however, damp with wet weather in winter which includes rain and sleet. Be prepared with warm, waterproof jackets for winter and spring and breathable fabrics for summer strolls. Middle Village is a developed urban community with plenty of traffic and commercial areas, however, residential properties and streets are lined with mature shade trees and landscaping.
Architecture in the region varies with no distinct style particular to the district. Large cemeteries in and around Middle Village provide green spaces and beautiful landscaping. Streets do not run in a traditional urban grid pattern due to cemeteries and parkland in the community. Sidewalks are prevalent in the community with large pedestrian walkways running through residential sections and along commercial corridors providing safe locations for walking with your dog in the neighborhood.
