It is only four blocks from the water of Gravesend Bay, where you can enjoy a lovely walking trail along the water that is separated from the highway by a wide divider. Walking through Bensonhurst is pleasant, with attractive, often historic single-family brick homes and tall, mature trees. Homes are set quite close to the road for the most part, with only stoops or small yards between house and road. Sidewalks tend to be wide but do not have a divider between road and sidewalk in many areas. For these reasons this is not the best neighborhood to bicycle, skateboard, or rollerblade with your dog.
