This is more than made up for though, by the eastern and southern borders of this community where there are extensive greenways along the Fresh Creek Water Way and Jamaica Bay. Not only will you find trails and grass for you dog to sniff and do his business on, but along the greenways there is water and sand that will delight your dog as much as the grass. Trees line some of these areas making them a great choice for hot summer days when you and your dog may want to find some shade for cooling off. Fresh Creek Park just outside of Canarsie to the east is also a 42-acre salt marsh and refuge that offers a tranquil place to experience a bit of untamed Brooklyn and enjoy the outdoors.
