Hollis is a large neighborhood in the Southeast area of Queens near Jamaica Estates and Queens Village. Jamaica Avenue cuts through the center of Hollis. Homes in Hollis tend to be historic two or three-family homes with attractive little front yards. Homes are generally set back a bit from the sidewalk, which has a good divider between sidewalk and road. Trees in many parts of Hollis tower over the homes, giving you the feeling of being in a very old forest. This little park next to Jamaica Avenue is primarily devoted to sports fields, but also offers a lovely walking and sitting area around the playground.

For a more extensive park experience, you can go several blocks away from Hollis through Jamaica Estates and into the forest around Cunningham Park. This forest offers several walking paths for you to explore with your dog. If you would like to, you can follow the forest all the way up to Alley Pond Park, where you can explore lots of walking trails as well as the charming ponds.

While the forest in this area is not large, it is dense and not heavily traveled, and so may support some interesting wildlife for you to see with your dog. Even if you don't see the wildlife, there's a great chance your dog will enjoy smelling all the natural smells in this forest.
