This gorgeous neighborhood in Queens is bordered by Jamaica Bay on one side and the ocean on the other. On the third side, it is bordered by Jacob Riis Park. With all of these walking opportunities, along with lovely neighborhood streets, this is an absolutely charming place to walk your dog. The streets of Neponsit are wide and have large sidewalks that are separated from the streets by big dividers. Lots of mature tree cover makes walking down the streets pleasant, while the large grassy lawns in front of the beautiful mansions give the neighborhood the feel of a park.
Heading towards Jamaica Bay will give you a lovely walk along the neighborhood streets that border the water here. The view across the bay and of the bridge is lovely and gives you a cool walk on hot New York days. Going in the opposite direction will bring you to a large and beautiful beach that you and your dog will love.
It is nice to walk along the neighborhood streets of Neponsit, but with the stunning beach so easily accessible and the lovely park bordering it, it is hard to keep yourself within the limits in this neighborhood. The streets of the neighborhood empty out directly into the beach, so you can have the wonderful experience of walking along a neighborhood street and suddenly finding yourself at the beach. Homes along the beach are as grand as might be expected, and walking along the neighborhood streets near here is very pleasant as well, especially since there is no thru traffic.
If you would like more green space than sand, you can head towards the Jacob Riis Park and its wide open grassy spaces. This is the perfect place to throw a ball with your dog or just relax among the trees and grassy areas. With views of the bay from many parts of the park, you and your dog will have a lovely time walking here.
Neponsit offers many opportunities to get away from the city streets, although walking along the city streets is not at all unpleasant. You and your dog will love wandering along the beach, both within the borders of Neponsit and also as you enter Jacob Riis Park. The ocean is a wonderful place to see all kinds of fascinating wildlife, and the beach is somewhere you and your dog will both love equally. Lots of grassy space around the park gives you a chance to lounge with your dog away from the beach, while still enjoying beach views.
By traveling further up Jacob Riis Park, you can find your way to Fort Tilden and all of the natural spaces that you can explore in this area. Since you have the opportunity to follow the beach all the way, or retreat inland and walk along the lovely paths, you have many options to explore this absolutely gorgeous terrain with your dog.
