Auburndale is a pleasant neighborhood to traipse with your pooch with the gorgeous architecture and extensive shrubbery and tree cover. There is no divider between sidewalk and road in most areas, and most yards are raised above the sidewalk with brick terraces. Despite this, the wide, planted divider between lanes can make you feel comfortable walking your dog on a loose leash.

This is a lovely area to walk around with your pup, but if you are looking for a change, there are plenty of parks available to explore. Extensive forested areas like the Alley Pond Park and the forested area around Cunningham Park are perfect to expose them to difficult terrain with fallen logs and branches. You can challenge your pooch as much as you are both comfortable with in such an environment. To give your dog gentle exposure to water, try Fort Totten Park which is a lovely peninsula into Little Neck Bay.
