This neighborhood has many small shops and services distributed on streets throughout the neighborhood and along main thoroughfares, There is a public library and schools in the region and the community is highly walkable with many destinations.

Residences in the area are mostly single-family homes of varying architecture, but with well-landscaped yards, lawns, trees, and shrubs. Sidewalks and grass berms on residential streets along with the tree canopy make ideal walking sites for pedestrians and their pets. Busy streets in the area, especially along commercial corridors, have traffic and you should be vigilant when crossing intersections for vehicles that can pose a hazard.
How many greenways are there in Westerleigh?
Clove Lakes Park is located east of Westerleigh and within walking distance for many residents and provides many greenways including the 3-mile Cove Lake Trail. Your dog should be leashed on the trail, but there are two designated off-leash areas in the park where your pup can play.  

Northleigh Park is also located in Westerleigh and provides 4 acres of treed and recreational space with paved paths under huge shade trees.  Westerleigh Park, named for the neighborhood is also within the neighborhood boundaries and is a small but beautiful park with paved paths and the site of many performances and events in the district. 

On the south boundary of Westerleigh, the Ingram Woods is an undeveloped park that is the remnant of a larger natural forest once located here. Walkways around the boundaries of the forest and natural trails through the woods provide beautiful greenways for residents with pets living in the southern section of Westerleigh.
