Top dog walkers in Schumacher Place
Wag! Walkers know Schumacher Place
Schumacher Place is a small, densely packed residential community on the south side of US-33 in Columbus. The neighborhood is across the highway from the Nationwide Children's Hospital and Research Center.
Those who live here have plenty of grass and walking trails to take your pup out for their daily walks. There are plenty of places to eat no more than ten to fifteen minutes' drive from home and multiple parks within a twenty-minute drive, including the Wheeler Dog Park where your pooch can run around without a leash and play with their furry friends. If you need a pet supply store, there are several of them no more than twenty minutes to the east.
You will love the summers here with plenty of blue skies and temperatures in the 85-degree range. However, winters with many weeks of freezing temperatures and lots of snow and ice can be challenging when it comes to going for walks.
What is the terrain like in Schumacher Place?
Plenty of flat of sidewalks is the best way to describe the ground here. There are plenty of paths running along the roads for you and your pooch to use. While many of the streets have paths, most of the alleyways between rows of houses do not. If you decide to walk where there aren't any sidewalks, you and your dog need to pay careful attention to the traffic.
E Livingston Avenue to the north is a major roadway which may present a few impediments to travel in that direction. Luckily, this neighborhood is large and has plenty of streets to wander, each passing by plenty of houses with grassy lawns and small curbs of grass in between. These spaces can provide good areas for a quick pit stop or break, as long as it's kept clean.
The southeast corner is where the majority of the retail stores are, so there are likely fewer patches of grass to use in the area.
How many greenways are there in Schumacher Place?
There isn't much in the way of green space within the boundaries of Schumacher Place, but over by the hospital is Livingston Park where you and Fido can enjoy playing on large swaths of grass, cooling off under shady trees, and exercising on the available walking rails.
Just to the southwest is Schiller Park, another park with plenty of walking trails to hike on and vast areas of grass and shade trees to enjoy.
Further to the west and on the banks of the Scioto River are several parks including the Whittier Peninsula. Here, you and your pooch can run around to your heart's content on the vast open areas, take long hikes on the many trails running through the area and, if they are in the mood, your dog can even swim in the river! There is also a boat launch should the two of you decide to take a cruise on the water.
