Columbus' climate changes with the seasons, so it's very important to check the forecast before you head out for a walk. While the summer months bring warm, sometimes very humid, temperatures, accompanying thunderstorms can get severe. Try to plan a walk in the morning before the sidewalks heat up and the humidity rises. In the winter, check the weather to best avoid being caught in a snow storm or icy conditions.
The northern part of West Campus is mainly comprised of an agriculture and natural resources laboratory, where pups are not allowed. The park is large enough that you shouldn't feel tempted to venture north of the park, but if you're up for an adventure, consider heading west to the university where there is sprawling green space and a few more places to discover.
If you want to venture out of West Campus, consider exploring the Ohio State campus where there is plenty of grassy areas and places to relax. You might even run into some college students who would love to give your pup plenty of attention! Just remember to keep your pooch on a leash to keep them from interrupting studying students. You'll also likely come up to several parks on campus, including a large arboretum with 17 gardens and a labyrinth.
