Cully Portland is a northeast neighborhood of Portland, Oregon. There are eateries, shops, and services located on main streets in and around the region. There are also schools with sports fields and a skatepark in the neighborhood that make walking destinations for those who want to get out and about.

The weather in Portland is rainy, but severe storms and snow that would impede daily walks are rare. If you walk your dog regularly in the area, invest in some good rain gear to keep you dry and maybe some waterproof gear for your pup if your dog doesn't like to get wet either!  Winters are cool and warm gear may be a benefit in winter months when temperatures usually hover around the freezing mark, although pronged frigid weather is rare. Summer is warm and sunny with less rain and more stable weather that encourages long walks with your canine companion.

Cully occupies approximately 3 square miles and is bordered by NE Cornfoot Road on the north, NE 42nd Avenue on the west, NE 82nd Avenue on the east, and NE Prescott on the south. The Rose City Cemetery is situated on the south and there is a large golf course on the north.

The terrain is mostly flat and there are no steep hills for area residents to climb with their dogs. However, some areas have sidewalks and some do not. Where separate pedestrian paths are not present, walk facing oncoming traffic with your dog securely leashed and watch for vehicles.

Cully is an older developed neighborhood and homes in the area are moderately sized on well landscaped properties with some multi-family complexes also located nearby. The neighborhood has some undeveloped, post-industrial land that should be avoided when walking your dog as contamination and debris can pose hazards to your dog's safety and health.

Cully canines are fortunate to have the Sacajawea Off-Leash Dog Park located right in their home neighborhood. Your pup can play off-leash in the park, however, it is not fenced and your pet must be well socialized. The park does not have a lot of facilities, so pet owners should bring their own water supply and waste bags to clean up after this furry friends.

A short distance to the southeast, residents can access the Rocky Butte Park. With loads of natural trails, elevation changes, natural beauty, and wildlife, this natural area on the slopes of an extinct volcano is a dog walker's paradise. Your pup is even allowed on the nature trails off leash except in the developed sections of the park.

Remember that unmaintained natural trails have some hazards, especially with the steep terrain. Wet weather can flood the surface of these trails and caution should be used when hiking with your hound in this region.
